Anna (Shimanek) Kramer 94 Anna Irene Shimanek was born on June 27th 1918 in Oxford Junction, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Tillie (Henak) Shimanek. She attended elementary and secondary schools, and graduated from Oxford Junction High School as Valedictorian. She attended the University of Iowa and received a B.S. Degree in Accounting. After college, Anna joined the Marine Corps and was assigned to the third Marine Air Wing and trained and worked as a Primary Aerographer until her discharge in 1944. While in the Marines, Anna met and married her husband Raymond Kramer. After the war, they moved to Roseville Minnesota where they joined St. Rose of Lima Parish and raised their large family. Anna was an organized and active homemaker with gardening, canning, baking and sewing among her many hobbies. She joined a sewing club where they sewed cancer pads for the Cancer Society. As the children grew, Anna used her accounting degree and went to work part time for Sears and Roebuck Co. Summers were spent with the family at the cabin on Big Carnelian lake near Stillwater MN, where after their retirement Ray and Anna built a log home, and were members of St. Michaelâ
