Carolyn Frances (Hedrick) Flock

Carolyn Frances Flock, age 85, of Stillwater passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at her home in Boutwells of Oak Park Heights. Born on November 9th, 1939, in Sparta, Wisconsin, Carolyn was a model of love, faith, and service.

Carolyn grew up in a large, loving family on Summit Ridge near Norwalk, Wisconsin. She started her education at the Bohn School, the one-room schoolhouse where her lifelong love of learning began. Carolyn enjoyed returning to the farm for family reunions and visiting with her many nieces and nephews. Carolyn treasured her time outdoors and was an avid hiker and nature enthusiast. She was known to regularly sprint off the path into a ditch to recover a sprig of wild asparagus or identify a rare wildflower. She cherished her Catholic faith and served her community through countless volunteer hours with the Saint Michael Council of Catholic Women and Befrienders. Carolyn was a gracious and loving host who could whip up a meal to serve visitors at a moment's notice. Never a captive to a recipe, making unique substitutions when the ingredients weren't in her pantry.

Carolyn will be dearly missed by her children Mary-Frances Smith (Michael), Trish Flock-Johnson, Peter Flock (Sharon), Jane Flock (Paul), Georganne Gabrielli (Mark) and Joseph Flock (Jen); siblings Dorothy, Noel, Joan, and Mary; in-laws, Betty Hedrick, Peg Hedrick, Carolette Hedrick, Helen Pedretti, Louise (Larry) Kelsey, Edward (Barb) Flock, Thomas (Pam) Flock, Theresa (Bob) Walchek; nineteen grandchildren Jessica (Kendell), Lauren (Craig), Peter "Alex" (Marissa), Sam (Makayla), Tayler (Eric), Maddy (Nick), Matthew, Henry, Quinton (Becky), Dominic, Casey, Maria, Hazel (Zach), Aiden, Khiera, Addie, Jake, Olivia, and Willis; six great-grandchildren, Cole, Rylee, Norah, Vinny, Lila and Leo; and her many friends in Stillwater, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Pete; her parents, George and Frances Hedrick; siblings Elaine, Joe, Helen, Ron, and Paul; Father and Mother-in-law; Lawrence and Mary Flock; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Dobbs and Marion Hill; brothers-in-law, Clayton Hulleman, Ken Warriner, Dave Sullivan, Fran Nicol, Walt Riley and Dave Flock; nieces Barb Peterson and Chris Logterman; nephews Jim Hedrick and Randy Flock and son-in-law, Tom Flock-Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Croix Catholic School, Stillwater, MN, or Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School, Lake Havasu City, AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 20th, at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S. Third St., Stillwater, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19th, at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave N., Stillwater, MN 55082 and also one hour prior to the Mass at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
