Darlene Betty Schmoeckel

d. October 21, 2018

Darlene Betty Schmoeckel went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 21st, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A lifelong resident of Stillwater, Minnesota, Darlene was born on May 9, 1951, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schmoeckel of Stillwater. She attended Stillwater High School and studied nursing and teaching at Crossroads Bible College in Indiana and Mounds-Midway School of Nursing, St. Paul, sponsored by the Baptist Hospital Fund, Inc. of St. Paul. She worked over 25 years for Presbyterian Homes as an RN, Clinical Administrator and Teacher, retiring in 2016. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Sarah Paulino (Taylor William) Johnson; brother, David (Donna); nieces, nephews, and her many beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. She leaves her cat, Stormy, to her daughter and son-in-law; her 57 African Violets to her friends; and her 22 pairs of Crocs to the Project Life distribution center in Stillwater. Her greatest joy was to see her daughter graduate from the University of Northwestern/St. Paul and marry her college sweetie, Taylor, and to beat them both at the card game, “Kings Corner”. A Celebration of Darlene’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 at Oakridge Community Church, 610 County Road 5, Stillwater, MN with a visitation to begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Stillwater, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent for distribution by the world missions committee at Oakridge Community Church.
