David “Choc” Junker, age 80 of Stillwater passed away peacefully on Sunday, November, 23, 2014 at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater. Choc was born September 11, 1934 in Stillwater, the son of Joseph and Iva (Hagen) Junker. He was a lifelong resident of the Stillwater. He spent most of his working career as a self- employed landscaper hiring numerous local kids to work every summer. He ended his career as the Public Works Director for the City of Stillwater. Choc coached VAA youth football and hockey. He played baseball for the Stillwater Loggers and fast pitch softball for Powerhouse Scandia. He was elected into the Minnesota Softball Hall of Fame in 1992. He served as Mayor of Stillwater from 1974-1982 and city council from 1985-1986. He also served on the school board for two terms. He earned the Stillwater Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2012. Choc loved his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the City of Stillwater. David is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Bev; children Dave (Libby), Heidi, Steve (Missy), Scott (Jenny), Michelle (Ben); grandchildren Amy, Andy (Lauren), Beau, Libbie, Erika, Garett, Devyn, Luke and Ana; and great-grandchildren Eli and Ella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Iva Junker; brothers Neil, Joe Jr. and babies; and his mother and father-in-law George and Margaret Howell. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S. 3rd Street, Stillwater, MN. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
