Dolores H. VanHouten

Dolores was born to Cordt and Alice (Raasch) Quast in Zumbrota, MN, grew up there, graduating from Zumbrota High School in 1943. She married John VanHouten on September 4, 1946. They farmed in the Zumbrota/Wanamingo area until 1957, when they moved their family of four daughters to St. Paul Park where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Dolores is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Jamison, River Falls, WI, Connie and Charlie Lawrence, Hastings, Doris and Wayne Johnson, Hastings, and JoAnn and Roger Flipp, Goodhue, grandchildren, Tina (Pete) Langenfeld, Mark (Barb) Johnson, Cathy (Jason) Shores, Roger (Angie) Flipp, Cordt (Bunny) Jamison, Rachel (Jason) Haley, Tony (Kim) Johnson, and John (Deb) Flipp, 13 great grandchildren, a great, great granddaughter due in December, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dolores was preceded in death by her cherished husband, John, on July 5, 2005, her parents, and five sisters.
She lived a long and loving life, and will be missed by all who knew and cared for her. A special thanks for friends and neighbors who helped to watch over her these last few years, and an extra hug for Pastor Jim Roecker and his family.
Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1000 Portland Avenue, St. Paul Park, MN 55071, followed by lunch, and interment at Zumbrota Cemetery, Zumbrota, MN, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Dolores has requested memorials be designated for St. Andrews Lutheran Church, St. Paul Park, where she has been an active member since 1957.
Blessed are those who live and die in the Lord.
