Born in Rochester, MN Aug. 14, 1922. Died peacefully January 26, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Stillwater. Don was a WWII Veteran, US Air Force, he was a trainer pilot. Preceded in death by wife Dorothy (Swanson) Valsvik; parents Joseph Valsvik, Rochester and Amanda Schwaderer, Guthrie Center, Iowa; daughter Karen Ann. Survived by children, Lee Valsvik (Holly Boyer), Jon Valsvik, and Mary Lynn Wolf (David), Sherry Cole (Richard), Greg Valsvik, Tim Valsvik; 13 grandchildren including Michael, Madisen, Matthew and their mother Julie, Amanda, Davis, Max, and Kiki; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister JoAnn Emerson (Edgar), Perham, MN; step-brother William Schwaderer Jr. (Pat) Guthrie Center, Iowa; brother-in-law James Swanson (Laurie); nephews Gary, Jim and Paul Swanson. Graduate of Bradley University, B.S. Chemical Engineering. In 1951 he joined Conwed Corporation, St. Paul, MN as an engineer. He became Vice President and Manager, Developing Business Group of Conwed, President of International Acoustical Testing Laboratories, Inc. (INTEST Corporation), a Conwed subsidiary and Executive Vice President of Mainline Manufacturing Corporation, High Point, North Carolina. He was a former President of Trinity Lutheran Church Council and former Finance Secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church, Stillwater, and Former President of the Board of Directors and Honorary member of Stillwater Country Club. Donald cherished his time on the golf course, loved to read, family vacations and watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports. A special Thank you to Croixdale of Bayport and the Stillwater Good Samaritan. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at TRINTIY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 115 N. Fourth Street, Stillwater. Visitation one hour prior to service at church. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Stillwater.
