Born in Mankato, MN 6/3/1916 to Vira and Dr. William Peter Seaquist. After graduating from Mankato Teachers College, he served in the Minnesota National Guard and U.S. Army Air Corps stationed in Kodiak, Alaska; Casablanca, Morocco; and Natal, Brazil during WWII. Duane returned to the University of Minnesota, and graduated with degrees in Forestry and Engineering. For 35 years, he was an engineer and designed furniture for St. Croix Manufacturing in Bayport. He and Betty Mackey married in 1943, and raised five children. Following his retirement, Duane and Betty traveled extensively to visit family and connect with extended family in their genealogy research. When Betty passed away in 1987, Duane continued his enthusiasm for genealogy, history, nature, and advocacy for the City of Stillwater improvements. Duane is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clinton and John; wife Betty, and son-in-law, John Pluta. He is survived by his loving children, Judith Pluta, Rebecca (Stephen) Bogie, James (Lea), Anne Seaquist, and Joseph (Joan). He was proud to be grandfather to Jennifer (Michael), Jessica (Travis), Christina, Andrew, Jacob (Tara), Kendra, and Jamie, and great-grandfather to Taylor and Ayla.
