Elsie D. Bergstrom

Elsie Dorothy Bergstrom was born May 4, 1913 in Minneapolis, MN to Anton and Anna Bergstrom. After graduation from Central High School she received her Registered Nursing degree from Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. Elsie served as a volunteer in the Army Nurses Corps during WWII. After a few years working in hospitals she spent almost 5 decades working for several prominent orthopedic surgeons in Minneapolis. After a very satisfying career she retired, at age 70. Elsie enjoyed travel, but her joy and passion were her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ralph, his first wife Clara and his second wife Marian. Elsie is survived by her nephew, Dr. Ralph W. Bergstrom, Jr, (Mary Jo) and 2 nieces, Kathleen Sundquist (Thomas) and Nancy Swanson (David), 3 great-nephews, 5 great-nieces, 9 great-great-nephews and 6 great-great nieces. A memorial service will be held at CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3901 Chicago Avenue South,Minneapolis at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008, with a visitation one hour prior to service at the CHURCH. Memorial gifts may be directed to Calvary Lutheran Church.Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
