Frank Jacob Schaffer

Passed away Friday, September 1, 2017. Survived by wife of 66 years, Joan; daughters Sarah Schaffer and Ann Kilibarda; grandson Fritz (Erica) Kilibarda; granddaughters Christine, Lauren and Ashley Kilibarda; great-grandchildren Blaire and Franklin Kilibarda; and sisters Margaret Jasper and Harriett Brainerd. Preceded in death by parents Frank J. Schaffer, Sr. and Seraphia Leif Schaffer; brother David Schaffer; sister Joanne Brown; and son Stephen Schaffer. A lifelong resident of Stillwater, Frank was loved by all and will be deeply missed. After graduating from high school, Frank joined the U.S. Coast Guard near the end of World War II. Following his service, Frank spent his career as a food and candy broker. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, and was an especially avid wild turkey hunter in his later years. He enjoyed boating on the St. Croix River, snowmobiling, and spending time with family and friends. Frank will be remembered by all for his many entertaining and interesting stories. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, with a visitation one hour prior, all at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave. N., Stillwater, MN 55082. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Croix River Association or the American Lung Association.
