Harriet Joan Arndt

Born in Afton, MN on June 4, 1915 daughter of Benjamin & Selma Richert. Graduate of Stillwater High School, Class of 1933. Attended St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota, was graduated from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls with a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Began teaching career in a one room rural school with 6 pupils in 4 grades. Was a member of District 834 faculty for 33 years retiring in June 1977. She was a life member of M.E.A. and N.E.A. Member of Helping Hand Quilt Club, Lutheran Church Circle, life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member of Retired Educators of Minnesota & District 834. Former Historian of Washington County Historical Society. Married Clarence J. Arndt December 30, 1944. Preceded in death by father and mother, Ben & Selma Richert; husband Clarence; brother Gerald Richert and nephew James Richert. Survived by daughters Joan & Beth; son-in-law Steven Schneider; grand daughter Sarah; cousins, family and friends. Service 11:00 AM Monday December 11, 2006 at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 115 North 4th Street, Stillwater. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Interment Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Dr. Mark Jacobson, Selian Hospital, in care of Trinity Lutheran Church.
