Helen Louise (Schnell) Thomsen

Helen Louise Thomsen, age 99 of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away March 5, 2023. Helen was born on April 16, 1923 in Ramona, South Dakota to George and Louise (Fazendin) Schnell. Her family moved to Stillwater when she was a little girl. Helen graduated from Stillwater High School and continued her education with three years of nursing training that allowed her to be a homecare nurse. She was united in marriage to Ejgil "Snowball" Thomsen on August 11, 1945 at the Church of Saint Michael in Stillwater, and the couple was blessed with six children. Helen loved raising her children and taking care of the family. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, both skills she had learned from her mother.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Ejgil "Snowball" Thomsen; children Dan Thomsen, Nancy Orr, and Janis Chapman; her parents George and Louise Schnell; and her brothers James, George and Richard Schnell.

She will remain in the hearts of her children Wanda (Jim) Joiner, Gary (Barb) Thomsen, and Ken (Mel) Thomsen; children-in-law Deb Thomsen, Bob Orr, and Mike Chapman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Church of Saint Michael, 611 3rd St. South, Stillwater. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment Saint Michael's Cemetery, Bayport. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Church of Saint Michael.
