Irven Robert Kiesow, age 91, lifelong resident of Stillwater. Passed away peacefully on May 27 after living a full and rich life. Preceded in death by parents Albert and Mary Kiesow, brothers Carl and Albert, sisters Lydia and Edna; and wife of 46 yrs. Vera Hughes of Shotton, Wales, who passed away in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 14 yrs Jean (Moder), daughter Elizabeth (Craig) Aase, son Joseph (Patsy) Kiesow, grandchildren Jessica Garrett, Benjamin (Alix) Aase, Matthew and Samuel Kiesow, and 5 great-grandchildren. He grew up on a farm in May township, graduating from Stillwater High School in 1937. During WWII he served 37 months in North Africa and Italy with the 135th Infantry, 34th Red Bull Division. He played fast pitch softball for 20 yrs, loved the Twins and Glen Miller tunes, and was an avid walleye fisherman, spending many hours on his beloved St. Croix River. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 38 yrs and was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church for over 50 yrs. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 3, 2011 at Ascension Episcopal Church, 214 3rd St. N., Stillwater, MN, with a luncheon reception afterwards in the parish hall.
