James B Heimann

d. July 3, 2020

James (Jim) Bernard Heimann, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday July 3rd, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN after a courageous 6-month battle with lymphoma. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 39 years, Priscilla, daughters Cate (Matt) Hoffman, Holly Heimann, sister Gayle (Walter) Briceno, brother Jeff (Terrie) Heimann, brothers–in-law John (Maurita) Golz, Peter Golz, and Rick Kalm, sister-in-law Kelly Golz, Uncle Ed (Pat) Olson, Aunt Jay Heimann, many other dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and his two beloved Standard Poodles, Cammeo and Remington. Preceded in death by parents Bernard and Marie Heimann, aunt and uncles, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, cousins and nephew. Jim grew up in Stillwater, attended the University of River Falls, WI and then the University of Minnesota. He made a career working for various companies and banks as a commercial financial analyst, retiring in 2018. He had a passion for aviation and in 2000 achieved his goal of attaining his private pilot’s license. Jim was known for his sense of humor, passion for cars, aviation, woodworking and model railroading. There was not a task or repair that he was afraid to undertake, and strived for perfection in everything he did. He openly shared his knowledge and would gladly help anyone that asked. He loved to travel, spend time at the “cottage” up north, was an avid reader and loved being surrounded by his family and his dogs. He was a dear friend to many and will be truly missed. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to all Jim’s Mayo Clinic doctors, nurses and staff, for their expertise, compassion and care. They became our family away from home. We will always remember each one of you. A private ceremony to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 17th at 2pm at the Simonet Funeral Home, Stillwater, MN. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Minnesota Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivors Network at: www.mnscasurvivor.net, or a memorial gift can be made in Jim’s name (to cancer research) through the Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN: call the Office of Gift Planning at (800) 297-1185 for details.
