James E. Melton was born on June 28th, 1933, son of Howard B. and Charlotte E. Melton in Joplin, Missouri. Jim went to heaven on May 22nd, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; and daughter, Georgiann M. Melton; siblings, Jeraldine Andrick, Jack Shanklin, and Eddie Shanklin; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his twin babies. James was also known as Jimmy, Rebel or Jimbo. He was a gentle, fun loving friend to everyone who met him. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school. When he returned from the service, he became a sheet metal Journeyman. He retired due to health problems and taught sheet metal at St. Paul Vocational School in St. Paul, MN for several years. He volunteered for many years at Boys Totem Town and loved spending time with the boys. He enjoyed being with people. Jim’s memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave. N., Stillwater, MN 55082 with a visitation to begin one hour prior to the service.
