James "Jim" Merlin Miller

October 12, 1956 — September 29, 2023

James "Jim" Merlin Miller, age 66 of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 29, 2023. Jim was born on October 12, 1956 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, where he grew up and graduated high school, before attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to earn a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Jim worked his entire career in IT, retiring in 2020 from US Bank as a Program and Project Manager in Information Security. He was united in marriage to Noreen Donahue on November 27, 1993 and they enjoyed traveling the world and spending time together hiking, biking and snowshoeing. Jim was a humble and resourceful man that was always willing to lend anyone a helping hand. He and Noreen loved gardening in their backyard, where Jim had lots of blueberry bushes and had planted over 300 trees, his own arboretum! Jim was a self-taught woodworker and had a hand in building the couple's house and kitchen cabinets. In that kitchen, he made delicious jelly, breads, muffins and pancakes. Jim was fond of running marathons, mixing drinks, beekeeping, birding and had volunteered his time to be an election judge for West Lakeland Township.

Jim will remain in the hearts of his wife and best friend Noreen; daughter Sarah (Wayne) Burgess; grandchildren Tyler and Emma; brothers Paul (Nancy), Mark, and Dan (Lisa); a niece and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Merlin and Ruth Miller; brother Kent; nephew Marcus Miller; and niece Molly Reul.

A Memorial Service for Jim will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave N, Stillwater, MN. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society for research.
