Joan Schaffer

Joan Elizabeth (VanSteenkiste) Schaffer, age 97, passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughters on March 27, 2025. She was raised in Bayport, Minnesota and was a lifelong resident of the Stillwater area. Joan is survived by her daughters Sarah Schaffer and Ann Kilibarda; grandson Fritz (Erica) Kilibarda; granddaughters Christine (Christopher) Smith, Lauren and Ashley Kilibarda; great-grandchildren Blaire, Franklin, Jacob and Walker Kilibarda; and sister-in-law Jan VanSteenkiste. Preceded in death by her husband Frank; son Stephen; her parents Omer and Mary VanSteenkiste; and brother Thomas.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Church of St. Michael, 611 3rd St S, Stillwater, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Stillwater Public Library Foundation and the Church of St. Michael in Stillwater, MN.
