John Benson

John Benson, age 74 of Mahtomedi, formerly of Stillwater, died at home on January 18, 2016, surrounded by his family, following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Maxine Benson; and sisters-in-law, Julie Cates, and Deanna Molitor. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lynette; sons, Tim (Gina), Matt (Amy), and Jason (Andrea); grandchildren, Sierra (fiancé Brian), Vale, Josh, Alexis, Emma, Tyler, and Layla; brother, Brian (Becky); sister, Connie; nieces; nephews, and many family and friends. John was a master craftsman, businessman, and avid sportsman. He was loved by all. Special thanks to his medical and hospice caregivers. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016 with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass, all at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082. Interment will be at Fairview cemetery. Memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
