John Richard Decurtins

John Richard DeCurtins December 10, 1922 – May 8, 2018 United States Army WWII Veteran John was born in Stillwater, Minnesota to John and Catherine and was blessed to spend over 90 years in his family home. He is survived by his loving brother, Jean and many friends. John loved to skate on Lake McKusick and play at Staples field during his childhood. After enlisting in the United States Army, John proudly served as an engineer in England, France, and Germany. His service involved delivering World War II plans and mapping. Upon his return to Stillwater, John worked for Washington County as a surveyor for 30 years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Saint Michael. John’s greatest passions were reading and keeping abreast of current events. He enjoyed his early morning walks along the beautiful St. Croix and long drives in the countryside. John was humble and kind and will be greatly missed. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Oak Park Senior Living and Lakeview Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Church of Saint Michael, 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082. At John’s request, there will be no visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Bayport, MN.
