John N. Wojtowicz, age 94 of Stillwater, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023. John was born on February 11, 1929 in St. Paul, one of a total of twelve children born to Nicholas and Karolina (Wawrzaszek) Wojtowicz. He enlisted in the US Navy on his 17th birthday, and because of his age, his mother had to sign for him to enlist. John served aboard the heavy cruiser USS Bremerton, and he only knew of one other guy on the cruiser his age. On a visit home, John met and fell in love with Janet Museus. The couple were married on December 28, 1948 in St. Paul before moving to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas where John began his career with the US Air Force. The small growing family relocated to Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, Tennessee where John served as Master Sergeant, and was the NCO in charge of the WRM (War Readiness Material) kits for three C130 Hercules Squadrons. In December of 1966, after serving 20 years with the military, John retired from the Air Force as Master Sergeant E-7. John and Janet and their eight children then settled in Stillwater, Minnesota. John worked for Walston Aviation as District Parts Manager from 1966-1971 at Holman Field and the North St Paul Schools until his final retirement in 2017. He cherished his family and he enjoyed watching it grow over the years. On December 28th 2023 John and Janet would have celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary.
