Joseph Alois "Lou" Polzin

Joseph Alois "Lou" Polzin, age 69, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2025 at his home. Joe was born on July 22, 1955, and grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota. He graduated Stillwater High School, Lakewood College (now Century College) with an Associate of Arts Degree in General Business, and the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Joe was preceded in death by his father Alois Joseph Polzin and mother Myrtle Ann Polzin, nee Glass. He is survived by his sister Lizabeth (Steven) Emert, nephew Daniel (Carol) Emert, niece Lindsay Emert and grandnephew Nathan Emert.

Joe worked in finance all of his career, including US Bank as Fraud Prevention Manager, Wachovia Bankcard Services as Fraud Research Prevention and Resolution Manager, and he finished out his career as Director of the Fraud and Risk Support department at Visa in Colorado from where he retired in December 2017. During his career, he moved from Minnesota to Denver, to Atlanta, and finally back to Colorado.

Joe was an avid jogger, golfer and skier and was a big baseball and football fan. He enjoyed his large aquarium of tropical salt water fish. He leaves behind a wide group of friends from his times in Denver, Atlanta, and Minnesota.

With all the friends he has made across the country in Minnesota, Colorado, Georgia and Arizona, the family asks that in lieu of a single remembrance celebration, his friends in each of the areas get together for a toast to celebrate Joe's life and memories of their times together. In the spring, Joe's remains will be buried at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Bayport, Minnesota with his mother and father.
