Joyce Brosious, age 95, slipped peacefully away early Monday afternoon, March 19, 2012 in Hudson, Wisconsin. She had lived at the Comforts of Home residence there since August of 2005 and previous to then was a resident of Stillwater. She was born Mary Joyce Hall in Stillwater, Minnesota on December 8, 1916, the first child of William Budd Hall and Florence Sullivan. Her father was a well known Stillwater businessman: jeweler, optometrist and music store owner, as well as a civic leader, and pianist with his own orchestra. The family home was at 923 N. Fifth St., where she was born in the upstairs northeast bedroom, with her father gowned and assisting the doctor; a most unusual thing for that era. In May of each year the family would take up residence at the Hall cottage at Little Carnelian Lake and remain there until September; Joyce had lasting happy memories of this idyllic period in her life.
