Judith Ione Langford (Nee Quinn)

d. March 2, 2017

Judith Ione Quinn Langford (Judy) passed away March 2, 2017 in Bradenton, Florida at 72 years of age. It was determined that the cause of death was vascular dementia, which is a slow, progressive disease; very difficult to diagnose until its’ later stages. Summing up life is an awesome responsibility. Its’ especially challenging with someone like Judy! “Never really grew up”, and “Judy made you feel like the most important person in the room”, were phrases that often came to mind when describing her. At 70 years young, Judy was the most enthusiastic amongst her grandkids at Universal Studios to get in line for the roller coasters! Judith Ione Quinn was born January 6th, 1945 at Miller Hospital in North St. Paul, MN to Richard and Arlene (Richards) Quinn. Her childhood home was 105 1st Ave, North St Paul, MN. She attended Arch Bishop Murray (all girls) Catholic School and kept the nuns on their toes! After graduation, Judy went to Mankato State University. After two years, at 21 years old, she decided to take a break from college and work for Northwest Airlines as a stewardess. During a visit home from flying, she began dating Nathaniel (Tan) Langford. Her flying career was over...they fell in love and soon married. Judy and Tan had two daughters; Tammy, born in 1969, and Deb, born in 1971. Judy stayed home with the girls, and in 1981, decided to go back to college part-time. She graduated from University of River Falls with a BA, majoring in English in 1984. Judy was a devoted mom who spent many years volunteering for the Red Cross, the local Somerset softball program, and Girl Scouts, to name a few. Everyone was welcome at Judy and Tan’s house. Their kids’ friends, all family, and all she knew, were always welcome. Judy worked part-time at Croixdale Retirement Homes for many years as an office manager and fun-facilitator. It was a regular occurrence for Judy to bring various residents she had befriended over to dinner at the Langford house. Judy and Tan retired in 2006 and decided to become snowbirds, buying a place on Anna Maria Island, in Holmes Beach, FL. They wintered in Florida and returned to their home in Somerset, WI during the summer months. Judy (Nana) had a standing date every Thursday with her grandkids – and the grand kids called the shots – usually returning home to their parents full of sugar up and wound up! Judy was widowed in 2011 after Tan lost his battle with brain cancer. Judy continued to spend her summers up north with family and friends and winter in Florida with her dear friends. It is heartbreaking to all who knew and loved her to lose such a loving, warm, spirited, authentic, and beautiful lady so young. Judy is preceded in death by husband Nathaniel Pitt Langford (Tan), parents Richard and Arlene Quinn, and her Father and Mother-in-law, Theodore and Josephine (Neumeier) Langford. Judy is survived by two daughters; Tammy Williams (husband Lary), and Deb Meyer (Fiancé’ Dan Deem), granddaughters Riley Jackson Kaess (husband Jake), Brittan Jackson (their father Brant Jackson), granddaughters Tannah Meyer, Kayla Meyer, and grandson Jake Meyer (their father Paul Meyer), and granddaughter Autumn Williams and grandson Jack Williams (their father Lary Williams). Judy is survived by brothers Richard Quinn II (wife Diane), Robert Quinn (wife Rebecca), and Jeremiah Quinn (wife Sherri). She is also survived by her sisters-in- law, Katherine Carey, (husband Rob), and Joanne O’Connor, (late husband Jim O’Connor). Services will be held at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Avenue in Stillwater, Minnesota on Thursday, March 16th. The Visitation is from 4pm to 7pm and a Funeral Service will be held from 7 to 8 pm. Memorials in Judys’ honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
