Karl Bremer, an award-winning journalist, freelance writer and blogger, died January 15 at his Stillwater home following a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 60. He married the love of his life, Chris Hanson, on Oct. 7, 1978. Their Stillwater home was a gathering spot for musicians and their fans. For years, they followed their favorite group, the New Orleans-based Radiators, to performances around the country. Each spring, they went to New Orleans for Jazz Fest, taking in as many blues performances as possible. Bremer wrote many free-lance articles, including travel and music pieces, and liner notes for DVDs and CDs. He began operating his RippleInStillwater blog in 2008. Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, Gene and Lodell Bremer and a brother, Steve, of Kearney, Mo. Another brother, Jon, preceded him in death. Memorials are preferred to TipitinaĆ¢
