Kenneth Donald Crist

Kenneth Donald Crist passed away on December 28th, 2017 with family by his side at the Saint Croix County Health Center. Ken was born on October 31, 1929 to Horace and Julia Crist in Austin, MN. After high school graduation, Ken went on to play in the minor leagues for the Chicago Cubs farm system before joining the Air Force. While stationed at Keflavik, Iceland, he met and married his wife of 61 years, Gudny Eggertsdottir. Ken served in the Air Force for 23 years of active duty before retiring to Forest Lake, Minnesota. While there, Ken worked for the Forest Lake Times and was involved with the local VFW. They later moved to Stillwater, MN and then to New Richmond, WI in 2003. Ken loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he lovingly called his “troops”, gardening and sports. He was a very kind, loving man with a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Gudny Crist; daughter Barbara Crist-Nepp (Douglas Nepp); son Shawn Crist (Monica); grandchildren Ashley Nepp (Matthew Bergeron), Andrew Nepp, Austen Nepp, Elva Crist and Soley Crist. Ken is preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Crist. We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the staff at the Saint Croix County Health Center who have cared for Ken. We are very thankful for the compassion, thoughtfulness and love they showed him and our family during his time there. A memorial service will be officiated by Galen Carlson at the St. Croix County Health Center, 1445 N 4th St, New Richmond, WI on Friday, January 5th at 11:00 AM with a reception following at his son’s home for family members. Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Croix County Health Center Stained Glass Fund In Ken’s name.
