Lawrence M. Maslowski, Sr. Age 77 of Stillwater “Larry” “Pollock” Passed away December 31, 2016 surrounded by family. Survived by wife, Susie; and their daughter Tracy Jo Maslowski-Adkins; and his children from his first marriage, Larry Maslowski II (Dawn), Linda Erichsen-Meister, Lauri Johnson (Lonney), Leaha Merchak (Ken), Lanae Maslowski; and Lonna Wendorf (Todd), whom he took under his wing. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; close friends, Bill Lindau and Jeff Meister; sisters, Pat and Jan Finnegan; brother, David Belideau; and many other family and friends. Larry was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Stillwater as a young boy, where he attended Stillwater High School. He served in the Navy during the Lebanon Crisis and while home on leave he helped fight the high school fire. After his time in the service he worked as a printer at Quality Park Paper and for many years he often took on extra jobs to provide for his growing family. Larry later retired as a carrier for the Stillwater Post Office. Larry’s family life began with his marriage to Rosie (Morgan) in 1962. They had five children; Larry II, Linda, Lauri, Leaha, Lanae and Lonna. After his divorce, he married his surviving wife Susie. During their 46 years of marriage they raised Tracy and several of her small furry creatures. Larry’s family was paramount in his life as was his devotion to our veterans. He was an active member of the Stillwater VFW, Honor Guard (Captain), American Legion and Eagles 94. Larry enjoyed engaging in great conversation with friends and fellow veterans. He was a member of a local horseshoe league and relished keeping his friends and neighbors wondering what he might be up to. At one time he was notorious for painting shamrocks on the stoops and sidewalks of Irish friends throughout Stillwater and is rumored to be responsible for changing a street sign to Shillelagh Street. Larry became an epic storyteller, drawing on his many experiences in the Navy and life in Stillwater. He started the first Stillwater Youth Hockey Tournament by contacting the coaches and having the VFW sponsor the trophies and lunch. This legacy continues to this very day. He would drop everything to help anyone who was in need. He always stepped up to help others with painting, snow removal, lawn care, placing memorial flags at the cemetery and providing rides to the airport for family and friends. We will never know how many hearts he has touched and we will never stop missing him. He was very proud of his Polish heritage. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave N., Stillwater, MN 55082 with visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bayport, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
