Mary Louise (Hauk) Dereu

Mary Louise DeReu, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023 in Bayport, Minnesota, surrounded by family. She was born January 23, 1930 in Urbank, Minnesota and lived in Stillwater, Minnesota for over 57 years. Mary spent most of her adult life in nursing, caring for many throughout the St Croix Valley. Her hobbies included gardening, antiques, Red Hats and harvesting butterflies. Mary's sweet demeanor was her greatest gift and was the epitome of kind as she celebrated all that she encountered with love and attention.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lillian (Freemark) Hauk; brother Bert Hauk; sister Betty Natz; and son in law, Rob Deitrick.

She is survived by her husband Rod, to whom she was married to for 72 years; children Gayle Johnson (Kent), Marcia DeReu (Brad), Rhonda Deitrick, Linda Marshall (Scott), Brenda Guse (Rick), Sharon Ries (Scott), Greg DeReu (Sue) and Lisa Rylander; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter; sister Lorraine Snyders, and many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S 3rd St., Stillwater, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment at St. Michael's Cemetery in Bayport.
