Mary Theresa Newman Age 68 (10/2/1947) Of Stillwater, MN Mary would like to let you know that her work here is done. On February 17th she received a call, an offer she could not refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with many family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is 110%. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, riding horses, listening to Irish music, gardening, drinking hoppy IPA’s and reading to her heart’s content. We want to let her know that she did a great job and wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her passion and energy, her love for life, family and friends. She was the strongest person any of us have ever known. Her first job here on Earth wasn’t always an easy one. She faced tremendous adversity due to medical problems her entire life. Mary was told that she wouldn’t live to be seven, would never walk or have children. She once said, “nothing is impossible, it just takes a little longer.” She not only walked she rode horses for many years, she danced and walked at the ocean. She met the love of her life, Lloyd Edward Newman, Jr., in her late teens while both were patients at Gillette Hospital and they married a few years later. They spent 44 glorious and frustrating years driving each other, and those around them, crazy with their antics. They raised 2 daughters, Shaundrea Kenyon (wife of Nathan Kenyon) and Rachael Newman who in turn gave them seven wonderful grandchildren: Adrianna, Callie, Isabella, Jordan, Victoria, Nathan and Andrew. Mary worked very hard all her life, caring more about those around her than herself. Sharing her time, her heart and her brutal honesty with those she knew and loved. She made a difference in the lives of so many. We would love to spend some time together remembering her. Please come enjoy her favorite Irish music and share your memories. Low adherence to these instructions will not be tolerated and remember it is not goodbye forever…only goodbye for now. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23 with visitation one hour prior at St. Jude of the Lake Catholic Church, 700 Mahtomedi Avenue, Mahtomedi, MN, followed by a lunch and life celebration. Donations to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers are appreciated to help other kids achieve the impossible.
