Mary McCarthy O'Brien passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2021 at age 91.
Born August 3rd, 1930, in Madison, WI, Mary was the only child to Guy and Florence McCarthy. When Mary was very young, her family moved back to Stillwater, MN.
Mary attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN. After college she worked for Northern State Power Co. in Stillwater as an executive assistant. She married Joseph G. O'Brien on May 21st, 1960 at St. Michael's Church, where they were lifelong members.
Mary will be missed by her family and many friends. All who knew her will remember her as a gracious lady with an unmatched wit. Mary was a pillar of faith for her family. Her legacy will forever live on in our hearts.
Mary's greatest source of happiness was her family. She is survived by her six children, daughters, Mary O'Brien (Steve) Black, Colleen O'Brien (Tom Peterson), Ann O'Brien (Todd) Butterfield; sons, Joseph Jr., Daniel (Mary Kay) and David; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; constant companion Charlie, the wonder dog.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021
at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S Third Street, Stillwater, MN 55082. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Lakeview Hospice.
