Peter Grant Chamberlain

Peter G. Chamberlain Beloved Father, Grandpa, Brother, Family Man, Age 75. Peter Chamberlain, a long-time resident of Stillwater, passed away August 11, 2017, after a brief illness. Pete was a devoted family man who was actively engaged in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and his extended family. His love of family history led him to become a genealogy buff, and active in the World Chamberlain Society. Pete worked for many years as a geophysicist in the U.S. Bureau of Mines, writing many papers, conducting research and consulting about mining operations. His scientific background gave him a legendary sense of organization. He also had exceptional skill with math and figures, including how to explain them; many family members came to rely on him for math- and science-related homework. At heart, however, he was an outdoorsman, never happier than when fishing, hunting or boating on the St. Croix River with friends and family. He passed peacefully while in the company of all his children, and will be dearly missed. Preceded in death by wife, Darlene; father, Franklin Curtiss Chamberlain; and granddaughter, Alyssa Reeves. Survived by mother, Geraldine Iverson; step-mother, Louise Chamberlain; children, Mark Chamberlain, Scott (Jill) Chamberlain, Emily Reeves; step-children, Pedar (Dawn Bentley) Brown, Heather (Michael) Lacy; grandchildren, Zachary Lacy, Mya and Mason Reeves; brother, Steven (Evelyn) Chamberlain; sisters, Kristin (Robert) Smith, Erica Iverson, Carla (Clinton) Boomgarden; companion, Elaine Young; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of life at 6:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017, at EAGLES CLUB, 13523 60th St N, Stillwater. Private interment at a later date. The Peter Chamberlain Memorial Fund at Trustone Financial has been established to provide scholarships for Pete’s grandchildren; contributions or flowers are both welcome.
