Raymond Francis Loonan, age 76 passed away at home on Saturday, May 18, 2019. He was born on April 10, 1943 to Virgil and Vera in Lismore, Minnesota. Raymond attended and graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School in Lismore, Minnesota in 1961. He proudly served his country in the Naval Air from 1963-1967 serving multiple tours in Vietnam. When discharged he started work at Honeywell as an Electronics Technician, obtained his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1972 from the University of Minnesota, and worked at Honeywell as a Quality Engineer. Education was important to him and he went on to earn a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1976 and a Masters of Business Administration from the College of St. Thomas in 1978. In 1986 he was promoted to Director of Quality for Honeywell Defense. In 1987 was named AT-4 Program Director of Shoulder Fired Weapons. In 1990 Honeywell spun off the defense division into Alliant Techsystems. In 1998 at the age of 55 and after working for thirty years he retired and never looked back. Raymond enjoyed family vacations, winters in Arizona, and summers in the Midwest. He loved watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, his alma mater. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie M.; daughters, Coleen (Tim) Siegfried, Bayport, MN, Carmel (Michael) Gribben, Holmen, WI; five grandchildren, Garett and Justin Siegfried, Carlee and Ava Bladl, and Ella Gribben. He is survived by his brothers, Tom (Cyan), Littleton, MA, Gerald (Linda), Lismore, MN, William (Raevette), Lismore, MN; and sister-in-law, Barbara Loonan, Fort Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Vera; brother, Dennis; siblings, Randy and Joan who died at infancy. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 24, 2019 at the Church of St. Michael, 611 3rd St. S, Stillwater, MN 55082. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Simonet Funeral Home, 6429 Osgood Ave. N., Stillwater, MN 55082, as well as one hour prior to the Mass in the church atrium. A private family burial with military honors will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family to make designations in Ray’s honor.
