Robert 'Bob' Harold Kroening

Robert 'Bob' Harold Kroening Age 88 of Stillwater Bob passed away March 11, 2019 surrounded by family. Bob was born in Minneapolis MN, and was raised in Wausau, WI, and Princeton, MN. He graduated from John Marshall High School in South East Minneapolis. Bob served as a Sargent in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War, earning the bronze star. After completing his service, he earned a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Bob and his wife Paula (Newman) were married in 1960. After completing school, Bob worked as a Civil Engineer in the Department of Publics Works of the City of Minneapolis for over 30 years. He was an avid builder. He contributed to the Nicollet Mall, St. Anthony Main, and many other projects in Minneapolis. He enjoyed building family cabins with Paula. Additionally, Bob loved gardening, fishing, working on his Model T and various woodworking projects. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Theresia; brothers, Carl, George, John (Joan) and Martin; and brother-in-law, Don Howard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Paula; children, Bob (Paige), James (Denice), Greg, and Jean (Rob) Batterton; grandchildren, Matt, Katherine, Sarah, Robert, Jack, Sam, Clay, and Owen; and sisters-in-law, Ruth, Nancy, June, and Bonnie Newman Howard. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Church of Saint Michael, 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082 with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass in the church atrium. Private interment at Rutherford Cemetery, Stillwater, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Church of St. Michael or charity of donor’s choice.
