Roland "Bud" G Buchman, age 95 of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away at home on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Bud was born in Janesville, Wisconsin and grew up on a farm in Springbrook, Wisconsin. After high school he spent one year at Michigan Tech, served in the Army, then earned degrees in education (math and social studies) from the University of Minnesota.
The majority of his career was with the U.S. Forest Service, which aligned with his great appreciation for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing the Boundary Waters, sharing nature with his children, extended family and friends. Many memories were made at the family cabin.
He had a passion for education and served on the District 834 School Board for many years. He introduced and helped implement the Environmental Learning Center (ELC), and volunteered as a teacher and guide there.
Bud's life revolved around his faith and family. He loved meeting new people, reaching out and welcoming others. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, infectious smile and friendly wave to all who passed by.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Florence, brothers, Jerry and Tom. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Coral, nine children, Marie (Scott) Belz, Dan (Kristie), Paula (Roger) Aho, Cathy (Stan) Waisley, Tom, Rollie (Nancy), Mark (Jackie), Carla (Kevin) Clay, Jerry (Sue), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Church of St. Michael, 611 3rd St S, Stillwater, MN with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Private interment at Fort Snelling on Friday, March 1, 2024.
