Susan Amundson Howard

Susan Amundson Howard, age 85 of Stillwater passed away peacefully at home with her family on July 26, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Arthur Amundson and Florence Lange Amundson of Eau Claire, WI. Susan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert N. Howard, Sr.; sons, Bob (Kathleen), Tim (Gina), and David; daughter, Sarah (Scott); sister, Judith Amundson Brown of Houston, TX; brothers, John and Charles Amundson of Eau Claire, WI; and 11 grandchildren, Bobby, Bryan, Brendan, Alexandra, Ava, Andrew, Anna, Amy, Nathan, Max, and Alexandria. Susan attended St. Mary's Hall in Faribault and Carleton College in Northfield as well as the University of Wisconsin Madison. After working for Harris Bank and Trust in Chicago and 3M Company in St. Paul, she left the work force to raise her family. She served and contributed to many charitable causes throughout her life and was especially dedicated to Ascension Episcopal Church and Fairview Cemetery Association of Stillwater. Susan loved the sun, her gardens, and her backyard pool which she opened up to all. She was widely known as "Grandma Sue" even to friends and children that weren't related. She was fiercely loyal to her family and close friends and put others before herself always. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Ascension Episcopal Church, 214 N. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN with a visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Private family burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Ascension Episcopal Church.
